Exercise 1: Quantify and Visualise
Data
After learning on FLIP 1: Types of Infographics. We were assigned to make the best use of things that we have then arrange it aesthetically to present the data.
- Quantify (count) our chosen items
- Arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart with relevant
indicators
- Written out with pens to help to visualise the quantity and data.
Although the submission date is due, however I decided to redo it and have
slight alteration on the data recorded and the placement of headline.
Moreover, the wording mistakes were corrected in this attempt, but just that
the handwriting is too compact to be read.
For this exercise, we are assigned to create a poster by organising a group of information using FLIP 2: L.A.T.C.H principles (minimum 4 principles) that had been taught during class. Several topic suggested are Pokedex, Dinosaur and FFXIV Bestiary.

Design Process
1) Data

3) Placing (Visualising)

Figure 1.3 - Attempts on Visualising Data, Week 1 (12 Jan 2023) |
In arrangement #1, as the coins and layout is in circle, thus it is
difficult to study the data. In arrangement #2, the coins were too much and
do not have space to record the data.
As the coins used were too much and does not have sufficient space for me to
document the data collection, thus I reduced the quantity of each value and
arranged it in bar chart.

Figure 1.5 - Draft_ Attempt #1, Week 1 (12 Jan 2023) |
In this attempt, I realised that the information written for the quantity of
Gold (Bronze) *0.50 cent is wrong. Besides, the space for me to present the
data collection is compact and does not have any visual hierarchy. Moreover,
there are continuous mistakes such as the wording and the visual
(lines).

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H Infographic
For this exercise, we are assigned to create a poster by organising a group of information using FLIP 2: L.A.T.C.H principles (minimum 4 principles) that had been taught during class. Several topic suggested are Pokedex, Dinosaur and FFXIV Bestiary.
Requirements
- Sketch in a book or paper then use illustrator to create the visual (poster) and then re-use of the images of the monsters provided is allowed.

Figure 1.8 - Design Inspiration, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
Initially I have no idea what I am require to do with this task, thus I went
to read senior's blog and analyse the poster properly. Then, I found
inspiration and direction to create my own version of poster using the
L.A.T.C.H principles.

Figure 1.9 - Resources, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
I reached out to the
internet to
obtain the logo of Pokémon and I also able to find an island image to
illustrate the location.

Figure 1.10 - Working in Progress, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
I downloaded the images of Pokémon obtained from the
source
provided, then use Photoshop - Quick Selection Tool to crop the subject. Then
copy and paste to Adobe Illustrators.

Figure 1.11 - Attempt 1, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
Size Resolution: 2048 x 2048
pixels
In this attempt, I found it hard to implement the principles as the space is
insufficient. Moreover, if I reduce the size of the Pokémon, I think it would
be hard to see them.
Size Resolution: 1240 × 1750
pixels
Initially, the activity was quite frustrating for me, but with frequent analysis and discussions with my friends, I found that it was actually a simple and enjoyable task. However, my lack of confidence and fear of experiencing mental distress caused me to procrastinate and delay the completion of the activity until just before the deadline. Fortunately, Mr. Hafiz's criticism helped me to realize this and improve my approach.

Figure 1.12 - Attempt 2, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
I had referred to colour palettes and logo of elements to construct my
poster, however on the final step to export my poster, I realised the fire
element's Pokémon belongs to other island. Thus, I have to repeat the
step in Fig 1.10.

Figure 1.13 - Final of Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H Infographic, Week 4 (31 Jan 2023) |
Size Resolution: 1240 ×
1750 pixels
Font Used: Gill Sans Std - Bold
Condensed (Sub Heading), Regular (Body Text), Ultra Bold Condensed
I had altered the font used for the subheading and re-arrange the sequence of Pokémon according to the National Number (alphabet).
Feedback
Week 4
Exercise 1
- nicely done!
Exercise 2
